Plant-for-the-Planet Receives 2024 UN SDG Award

Dear Members of the Press,

Rome, Italy / Munich, October 29, 2024 – Plant-for-the-Planet was awarded the prestigious UN SDG Action Award 2024. The award, which annually honors groundbreaking projects that make a significant contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was presented in the “Impact” category to the global climate justice organization.

This recognition honors Plant-for-the-Planet’s commitment to protecting and restoring forests to mitigate the climate crisis and empower young people worldwide to advocate for climate justice. The initiative, founded in 2007 by then-nine-year-old Felix Finkbeiner, has also mobilized numerous additional forest-focused organizations through its restoration platform and has contributed to planting almost 100 million trees. Furthermore, Plant-for-the-Planet has trained over 100,000 young people in 76 countries as Climate Justice Ambassadors.

“This award is a great honor for our entire team and the countless supporters worldwide who share our mission,” says Felix Finkbeiner, founder of Plant-for-the-Planet. “It shows that collective action makes a difference. Every tree donation, every action, every effort – big or small –, every hour you invest brings us closer to our goal of a climate just future.”
